Our Role As a Backbone Organisation

Effective backbone support is a critical condition for collective impact

Research reinforces that the number one reason Collective Impact initiatives fail is the lack of strong backbone support

Leading Collective Impact and achieving change for the futures of CQ children requires a whole of community commitment. Work in this field cannot be limited to service providers, it cannot be solely directed by government through their money and contracts – local business, community members, government departments, service providers, local councils, universities, those impacted by the issues, educators, sports clubs all have a stake in working together to ensure our local communities are a place where our children thrive.

ECCQ’s work is to provide the Backbone Support for this process.

Our role is essential for initiating a new way of thinking, influencing new actions and ensuring momentum and impact is achieved and maintained

We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of this country and recognise their connection to land, wind, water and community. We pay our respect to them, their cultures, and to the Elders both past and present.
