Every Child CQ Inc. through evaluation of data & feedback gained from community forums, has identified five key areas of opportunity and priority for improving outcomes for Central Queensland children:

Early Life (including pre-birth):

  • low birth weight
  • antenatal and postnatal supports
  • speech and language development
  • antenatal and post-natal nutrition
  • first 1000 days
  • vaccination rates

School Readiness:

  • kindergarten participation
  • playgroup and access to early childhood care
  • parents as first teachers
  • reading programs
  • transition into Year One
  • health checks forĀ children

Community Participation and Inclusion:

  • access to sport and recreation
  • inclusiveness of activities
  • events and clubs
  • active/healthy lifestyle
  • water safety programs
  • children-centric community planning
  • local governance.

Youth Connectedness, Employment and Transition to Adulthood:

  • teenage pregnancy
  • educational attainment levels
  • employment
  • suicide
  • sexual health
  • further education and training options
  • emotional well-being and mental health
  • antisocial and criminal behaviour

Family Nurturing:

  • safe and happy relationships
  • domestic and family violence
  • family breakdown
  • parental behaviours (drug/alcohol/gambling etc.)
  • poverty
  • child protection
  • early intervention and family support
  • extended family and grandparent support
    .

Key Issues

We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of this country and recognise their connection to land, wind, water and community. We pay our respect to them, their cultures, and to the Elders both past and present.
